What Are the Greatest Guitar Jam Tracks?

When you think about guitar music some of the names that spring to mind are Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain or B B King. It is a beautiful instrument which can either be made to sing like a bird or wail like a wounded animal. Of course if you put it in the hands of someone who can't play then it can also make some horrific noises.

But what would be considered the best guitar jam tracks of all time. Well there was recently a poll to distinguish this exact fact and there were some absolutely classic tracks that featured in the top five songs. They have rocked our worlds for years and now I have to pleasure of bring those to you so that maybe a new generation will have the opportunity to experience these amazing songs.

In at number 1 was Jimi Hendrix's classic Purple Haze. The song is a classic, it manages to blend perfectly the smooth and aggressive nature in the notes. Jimi really was a legend on the guitar he could make it sing like no other and if you had the chance to listen to him play live you could really see why so many people will always hold him up as possibly the greatest guitarist to have ever picked the instrument up.

Coming in at number 2 was The Rolling Stones with Jumpin' Jack Flash. This was and still is one of the greatest guitar jam tracks ever made, you can still hear this played today and you will be nodding your head away to it.

It also seems as though there is a pattern emerging with the songs, as both of these songs were from the 60's and 70's. Are the voters of the poll suggesting that the music has somehow died since the 60's and 70's?

Well to add fuel to the fire at number 3 in the greatest guitar jam tracks is Led Zeppelin with Whole Lotta' Love. Made in 1973 the song has inspired generations since and the classic riff that features as the main backing for the song has been used on a variety of television shows like Top of the Pops and many more.

The only entrant to the greatest guitar jam tracks that isn't from the 60's or 70's is grunge band Nirvana's entry with Smells Like Teen Spirit at number 4. Nirvana still lives on today long after the death of lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain.

Bringing up the rear of the five greatest guitar jam tracks is the Beatles with Helter Skelter. No list would be complete without the four lads from Liverpool and although finishing anywhere in the top five should be considered amazing this rocky Beatles track only comes in fifth.
